Workshop Overview
Objective Jail Classification:
The foundation of jail management
The role that classification has in the overall management of the jail continues to expand with each passing year. Staff assigned to provide this vital function must understand how their decisions impact virtually every aspect of jail operations. This workshop will examine and focus on the vast array of different responsibilities that may fall onto the lap of classification staff.
Classification begins when an individual enters the facility and is an ongoing process until the time when the person is released from custody. During that time, decisions regarding housing, programming, work assignments, and possibly community corrections are all impacted by classification. Having the tools and understanding how to efficiently and effectively navigate the process is imperative. This workshop is intended to encourage participants to return home and begin the process of reviewing their practices and deciding if changes are necessary.
Fee: $199 per person*
